The International Ice Hockey Centre of Excellence (IIHCE) was established in Vierumäki with the help of Sports Institute of Finland and The Finnish Ice Hockey Association (FIHA). The European Social Fund financed the International Ice Hockey Centre of Excellence during years 2003-2007.
