Overall, there are 360 participants at the camp. Highlighting the camp are the 142 players, who are split into eight teams upon arrival in Finland. The eight teams generally have no two players from the same nation, meaning that a player from Canada could be teammates with a player from Mongolia. The teams work both on and off ice not only on skill development, but team development as well. Each afternoon the teams will play a game against each other.

The adults at the camp come from virtually every area of the game. Included are game officials, coaches, equipment managers and for the first time ever, general secretaries and presidents of the national associations. In all, there are eight adults programs at this year?s Development Camp. The various groups attend seminars during the morning and then have a practical application during the afternoon.

The specific groups include: Coaches, Learn to Play, Officials, Equipment Managers, General Secretaries/Presidents, Coaching Directors and Referees in Chief.

This is the fifth year that the International Ice Hockey Federation has held its Hockey Development Camp. It is the third consecutive year that the camp has been held in Finland at the Vierumaki Center. Vierumaki is also home to the International Ice Hockey Center of Excellence and to the IIHF Coaching Degree Program. Students in the degree program will be heavily involved in this year's camp, serving as staff and instructors.
